Getting up, close and personal with a Kudu male chewing the juiciest greenery close to camp.
Greater kudu males have long, spiral horns that can grow up to 1.8 meters (6 feet) in length.
They usually have 2.5 twists, but in rare cases, they can have 3 full spirals.
In many African cultures, kudu horns are hollowed out and used as instruments or ceremonial trumpets, often referred to as a “shofar” in some traditions.
Similar to the Eland, Greater kudus can leap over obstacles up to 2.5 to 3 meters high (about 8 to 10 feet) from a standing start.
We love these pretty, talented antelope!
