African Safaris aren’t all about wild animals – sometimes it’s the birds that cause great excitement too. They add a rich, colourful dimension to a wildlife safari in Africa.
There are often over 450 species of birds in Southern Africa, especially in the summer months when migratory birds are prevalent.
Now, back to this reel!
We caught this African Fish Eagle landing on a branch with a small catfish.
Their powerful talons and beak are specially adapted for catching and eating fish.
They are excellent hunters, soaring high to spot fish below, then diving swiftly to capture their prey.
Fish eagles sometimes throw back their heads and call loudly to each other. This display is often part of courtship, territorial display, or communication with other eagles.
Fish eagles are known to form lifelong pairs. They often mate for life and work together to defend their territory and raise their young. 💚
When you hear this call, you know you’re truly in Africa 🌍
